Season 4 Signups / Change plans for season 4
June 14, 2015, 01:07 AM
Changes for season 4 (applied to all events)

All the changes will be updated in yellow inside the existing rules that will be posted when season 4 is about to begin (not clear when yet, as season 3 is still halfway)

Planned changes:

SCHEME
------

- crate type probabilities changed to 80-60-40
- laser sight removed from crates
- laser sight infinite in stock

ORGANISATION
------------

- rule about starting a match in tournament / mini-cup (according to better ranking - random if both are not ranked yet)
- playing 1st matches with everyone first than being able to start with rematches in league
- tech lose for player who is constantly refusing to arrange a game (when trying to arrange game in these forums by certain player)

DROPPING ISSUE
--------------

- worms advantage by the player who DIDN'T drop qualify for additional skips:

1 skip for 4 or 5  worms advantage
2 skips for 6 or 7 worms advantage

- if a player who is granted these kind of skips by an opponent refuses to take it, he receives fair-play performance points (but with existing skip scenarios such as being the one who dropped and weapon value advantage can't be traded to fair-play points)

PERFORMANCE IN DROPPED ROUNDS ISSUE
-----------------------------------

- performance points for dropped round will be not higher that the ones that could've been achieved at the moment of a drop

example:

- player x had 5 worms at the moment of drop,
- player y had 3 worms at the moment of drop,
- player y wins repeated round that dropped with 5 worms, but he's receiving just 3 points for survivors as he had 3 already when it dropped, so it won't create paradoxes

- legally performed combos as well as crate-clear map after turn awards from dropped rounds will count even if in repeated attempt they're not performed

- collected crates and quickwin awards will not be applied in dropped round for obvious reasons (round can be always longer and the other player can always cancel crates award)

- if there is a situation in a round that drops where awarded multikill combo can't be no longer performed by player who performs it in repeated attempt it won't be counted in this case, so no paradox is there

Despite the recent poor activity, it's time to check if the official kaos seasons will be continued in nearest future. With just 50% season's 3 league event completion so far it is not very promising

There can be season 4, depending on your interest, so that is why I ask only the really motivated players who care about this to sign up for upcoming season.

It is not clear yet how many events it will have and when it will begin. This will be affected by season 3 completion as well as the actual interest.

Signups will last for at least some weeks. This is more to see who will be actually willing to participate.

Some of you may heard of newest variation of professional kaos scheme. It's called half kaos (the idea by croatian player o) and is dedicated to the best kaos players around, as it's even more advanced and requires best skills to compete succesfully

The plans for season 4 events are:

classic kaos events
-------------------

- tournament with groups (16 players minimum)*

- mini-cup (minimum of 16 players paired for round 1, seeded players***, byes if required, 4 stages event, 1 match per stage, at least 1 match per player to be played)*

- classic league (9 players minimum, 2 matches against every player, two-legged playoffs, finals)**

half kaos events**
----------------

- tournament with groups (16 players minimum)

- mini-cup (16 players paired for round 1, seeded players***, 4 stages event, 1 match per stage, at least 1 match per player to be played)

- classic league (9 players minimum, 2 matches against every player, two-legged playoffs, finals)**

2v2 classic kaos events**
-----------------------

- to be announced

2v2 half kaos events**
--------------------

- to be announced

* obligatory event for those who sign up
** optional event to choose from
*** players will be seeded for suitable events according to their 2015 current ranking, wildcards for unranked professionals possible.

So if you want to sign up for the waiting list for season 4, please specify the events that you're signing up for - note that some are obligatory that are a must for every signing person, please sign only the motivated, active guys.

Seems like someone forgot to approve this cup, shame. Will be deleting it soon if it won't be done within this week.

Season 3 League / Game arrangement thread
March 10, 2015, 08:01 PM
Since this is the huge season (156 games to be played by all players until 17th May) this is the place to arrange your league games so you have your gametime assured.

Note that I am handling the hosting only with Kayz to assure exact map format and dropping procedure so everyone gets fair, same chances of competition.

Write gametime requests, contact your opponents here.

Confirmed game arrangements will have priority and starttimes will only delay when some earlier game is still in progress and the host is busy with this.

Season 3 League / Point system explanation
March 08, 2015, 12:59 PM
GLOBAL SCORING SYSTEM

This interesting system was carefully prepared and balanced and allows to enhance the worth of kaos event experience, it also motivates to increase the level of both skillful and tactical gameplay on kaos scheme.

These points will be applied and announced by the assigned hosts of the league. You can always question it at any moment though once you spot any ommision.

The so called "global score" will include:

- so called "basic points" that will rank you in the league / championship format event (depending on a format that will be played).

- so called "performance points" that will show how skilled player you are in general at this scheme and will add to your global earnings in the long term.

Basic scoring can be also altered by penalty points described at the bottom of this section.

Once playoffs begin, only the performance scoring earned so far will be used for top 4 players.

BASIC POINTS EXPLANATION
------------------------

You will get so called "basic points" directly for results of your games

3-0 = 8 points
3-1 = 6 points
3-2 = 4 points
2-3 = 1 point

Penalty points
--------------

1-3 = (-1) point
0-3 = (-3) points

PERFORMANCE POINTS SYSTEM
-------------------------

You will get so called "performance points" for achievements you manage to accomplish in your games.

Positive basic points merged
----------------------------

In each match the positive basic points will be added to performance points for game results (3-0 / 3-1 / 3-2 / 2-3). This is to unify the 3, 4 and 5 round games.

AWARDS
------

Awards applied DURING a round
-----------------------------

Multikill combos awards:
-----------------------

4 points for each 4 kill combo per turn performed in a game

5 points for each 5 kill combo per turn performed in a game

6 points for each 6 kill combo per turn performed in a game

7 points for each 7 kill combo per turn performed in a game

8 points for each 8 kill combo per turn performed in a game

Ultimate killer award:
---------------------

20 points for killing all 8 enemy worms in 1st turn of the round without losing all own worms (winning round directly).

Collector awards:
----------------

2 points for collecting at least 100 crates in one round.

If another player also collects at least 100 crates - noone will receive points.

Map cleaning award:
------------------

1 point for collecting / destroying ALL crates by the turn-time end.

Awards applied AFTER each round
-------------------------------

Fast win awards:
---------------

These awards will be based on the team-vanishing sound moment. This usually happens approximately 7 seconds before the mid-round lobby roundtime displayed.

3 points for winning a round lasting exactly or more than 10 minutes, but less than 15 minutes.

5 points for winning a round lasting exactly or more than 5 minutes, but less than 10 minutes.

7 points for winning a round lasting less than 5 minutes.

Tactical (as well as accidental) surrenderings also qualify for this award for the winning player, depending on an elapsed round-time.

Survivors award:
---------------

1 point for each survivor worm in won rounds (1 to 8 points).

These are your point awards to be earned, but when there are awards, there are also some penalties.

You will get these penalty points that will affect your scoring if you commit violations below:

PENALTIES
---------

There are some penalties concerning dropping games and unplayed games before deadline.

Unplayed games penalties
------------------------

5 penalty points for each unplayed game in the end of season.

This refers to the full game-list schedule that will be created when the event starts, consists of 2 games vs each player that signed in to the season (for example 24 games per player if 13 players compete = 2 games vs all 12 opponents).

This penalty will affect basic points.

Season 3 League / Official rules
March 08, 2015, 12:52 PM
INTRODUCTION
------------

Welcome to Season 3 of the official KAOS League.

This event wouldn't be possible without your interest. Thank you all for that.

It's really appreciated to be able to create and take part in this unique professional challenge with good players participating.

Season 3 will begin on Monday 9th March (0:00 GMT time). The regular phase of season will end on 17th May. All matches have to be completed before or on that date. Playoff stage will take place between 18th and 31st of May. All 4 playoffs, 3rd place match and the season final will be played then.

HOSTING
-------

All games but rare exceptions will be hosted by the approved hosts only. This is to assure that everyone gets exactly the same format and fair chances and also that no games will remain without spectator, which is the primary goal to determine who dropped.

These players are:

- DreamTrance - the event director, main host

- Kayz

In some rare cases the games can be hosted by the substitute hosts appointed by me, but only if all hosts above will be hosting a game or will be unable to host league games while there will be an urgent need.

Arranging games on your own will make it a lot more convenient, the arranged games should be then arranged with the hosts so they can host for you.

Pre-arranged games will have the priority before any other although if there is a host available to host simultaneous game it can be played anyway.

Since it's a lot of work to host all games for two people, here's an exceptional rule:
It may be allowed for two players to host their game on their own, under 2 conditions:

1. A spectator should be sought after. If noone is to be found, the hosting player gets 1 skip in case of a drop, no matter who caused it. This is to discourage players to host their own games without a spectator.
2. It is highly encouraged that you don't host on your own, because if the rules of hosting are broken in any way (Same terrain twice, bridges, etc.) the game won't be counted! So be careful and better let us host. :)

ARRANGING GAMES
---------------

The majority of the text below is mostly only for your information so you can see whether the rules are obeyed by the hosts or not. You can always refer to these rules if you see that something is being ommited.

You will not be asked to play more than 1 game per 3-4 days, unless you really want to and there will be a host available for you, but if you don't play any games for more days in a row, it may be very hard for you to complete all within deadline.

Please understand that every single game may matter for certain players, so try to be active to assure you'll play all your games in time.

If any player will be falling back with activity, they will be contacted by the hosts to arrange games via: wormnet, TUS pm or sometimes the contact emails / skype some of you provided.

If there will be serious problems contacting such players they can get penalty points affecting their performance scoring in the end of the season.

EVENT FORMAT
------------

I want it to be a fair and pleasant challenge, everyone will get same chances and all games will be comparable. That's why it is very important to make all games keeping same setup and format.

The league will be classic, it will require exactly 2 games against everyone that signed in to this season (match and a rematch).

All games will be hosted by the approved hosting players only.

You will get basic and performance points for played games (explained in separate points section).

There are also penalty points for some organisational problems that may occure (look at the points section for more details).

Players' points should be announced before and after each game, round and possibly in real time as they are earned.

All games will have same, comparable setup / format (map types, map order - see game setup section below) so each player gets similar chances.

RANKING CRITERIA
----------------

The criteria used to determine final standings of the league will be as follows:

1. Basic points earned in all played games altered by possible unplayed games penalties (see points section how to get them).

2. Performance points count (see points section how to get them).

3. Greater number of victories overall.

4. Won / Lost rounds ratio.

5. Greater number of rounds won.

6. Aggregate of rounds between tied players.

7. Last head-to-head result.

PLAYOFF REGULATIONS
-------------------

Once all regular games in the season are played until 17th May, two-legged play-off stage will begin.

Top 4 players from the standings will qualify for that stage and will be paired according to the pairing system (shown below).

If there won't be a clear situation at the end of 17th May due to unplayed games - special balancing procedure will be used to determine playoff spots and those who'll qualify. It will concern just the players that will maintain mathematical chances of advance at the end of 17th May.

The playoffs as well as finals will be played between 18th and 31st of May.

These play-off matches will be played at 4 victories:

Playoff 1 (1st vs 4th) (2 legs)
Playoff 2 (2nd vs 3rd) (2 legs)

The aggregate score winners of these matches will advance to the final match while losers will play 3rd place match.

In case of an aggregate draw, the performance points count from playoffs will decide (if still tied than the result of an additional tie-breaker match at 4 victories will decide).

The final as well as 3rd place matches will both be played at 5 victories.

Top 3 players will win a prize: champion, runner up and 3rd place match winner.

The amount of money prize (Euros) according to what was announced will be fixed base altered by multiplier calculated from performance points difference between best players, but only paid in full if ALL PLAY-OFF MATCHES (including final of course) ARE PLAYED until the final deadline that is 31st May.

VALID SCHEME SETTINGS
---------------------

The official scheme that should be used in the league is the official kaos pro that was made especially for official event needs (specified in scheme section).

This is the ONLY scheme to be used by everyone in every match of the league.

You must play all games with 8 worms.

Just to remind that all games have to be played at 3 victories (this is already set in the scheme).

GAME SETUP GUIDELINES
---------------------

These rules will be followed by the hosts to make all games comparable and fair-played:

1. Use biggest classic maps only (no user-made special maps, no user-made big maps etc.) with as much complicated terrain as possible.

2. Do not modify the maps and object settings in any way, although:

2a Set map complexity to 10 in map-menu right-click section to provide as much tactical hideouts as possible as well as the most obstacles.

2b Set map-bridges amount to 1, so there are no bridges that provide too easy transportation, easier kills / pilings and crate platforms.

3. Everytime use following map pattern:

Round 1: ISLAND

Round 2: ISLAND

Round 3: CAVE

Round 4: CAVE (if still no winner)

Round 5: ISLAND (if still no winner)

Round 6: ISLAND (if any draw occurs in previous rounds and still no winner)

Round 7: CAVE (if more than 1 draw occurs in previous rounds and still no winner)

I-I-C-C-I-I-C-C-(looping until there is a winner)

3a Drawn rounds also follow the pattern - example: if there is a draw in round 4 (cave map), the next map will be island.

3b Island maps shouldn't have water in the middle or at the middle bottom or be split into 2 smaller islands, it should be a 1 solid big terrain.

3c Cave maps should be FULLY CLOSED (sides and bottom) so there is no access to any edge nor water in the beginning of a round. Use a map-menu to pick maps - always pick map types that are located in the very left window of both island and cave types in map-menu.

4. The landscape theme of the maps shouldn't repeat within a match to allow the skills to be tested in various conditions (grass etc).

Additional tips:

5. Don't make any rule decisions on your own, consult every unusual or problematic situation with me before attempting anything (organisation).

6. Be very careful with accidental surrenderings. It will always be counted as lost round without any excuse possible. Only surrender a round tactically if you really want to (considering your very hopeless positions while an opponent is only collecting and you really can't do nothing etc.).

DROPPING ISSUES SOLUTION
------------------------

New dropping guidelines are explained in separate section, hosts will refer to that while making a decision about post-drop resume procedure.

Minimising of the game may increase the chance of a drop (this also include minimising between rounds). Do it on your own risk.

FINAL ORGANISATIONAL STATEMENTS
-------------------------------

Current standings along with info coverage (if needed or requested) will be frequently posted to TUS thread section (at least once a day if any games happen everyday).

In every exceptional case you can solve your problem or ask for complete information on TUS thread section.

These rules above won't change within the season however anything that wasn't specified will be analysed individually as some specific, exceptional cases may occure.

When solving issues I will always have the fair-play spirit in mind, so noone will be treated unfair here because all players should have exactly same chances in this official competition.

* performance points from a single match record holder as of 31.05.2015

** Zexorz decided to give free victory to Kayz (being a 3-0 victory). To avoid ruining the performance points system I decided to apply an average performance per match based on player who got most after playing all games, that is Chelsea's 94 (94/4 = 23,5) - approximating up to 24. This is to avoid unfair situation of 45 freepoints, as others needed to play and earn points in actual game. That made a change from 68 to 92 Kayz' points at that moment.

Kf / Kaos 2v2 - Register your team
February 19, 2015, 05:43 PM
I have a new idea about 2v2 official games of kaos.

Find a good teampartner for cooperation, register your team here and participate in an unique 2v2 kaos league.

The signing up of teams ends on 31st March.

You must then arrange games with every pair that signed up and play five 2v2 games against each pair (when the amount of signed teams will be big then the amount of games to be played against each team will be lowered.

Games can be played and reported here from 1st April to 30th November.

In December the annual playoffs for 4 best teams will be played if there will be many teams signed and if not so much, then just a year final.

Winners will win a money prize.

You can arrange your LEAGUE games here guys.

All of you received list of games to be played within this event.

Games pre-arrangement here will have the priority before games arranged spontaneously, just so you have your game-time guaranteed. Note that there are also pre-arranged tournament games to be played possibly.

You can find the host that is responsible for your games in main league thread, if you can't contact your host, contact me and I'll try to help.

It is also possible that Hurz will be hosting majority of nickynick's games due to not being confirmed yet.
